Bio
Catherine Davis is pursuing a master’s in Public Administration at the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College, with a concentration in Urban Development and Sustainability. She earned a B.A. at Sarah Lawrence College in Sociology. Catherine worked in media in New York City for over 20 years, mostly as a managing editor for print and online publications. She also served on the board of the New York State Literary Center, a Rochester-based arts education organization that serves students in correctional facilities. Through her graduate studies, she seeks to expand her understanding of the city’s policy landscape and combine that knowledge with the transferrable skills she acquired over the course of her publishing career. She is interested in the development and implementation of policies that focus on growth, sustainability, resilience, and equity in New York City. During Catherine’s first year of graduate studies, her research has ranged from an analysis of the city’s organics recycling program to a case study of the green infrastructure within a Manhattan neighborhood.
