Bio
Alex Kipp was born in Manhattan…Kansas, but grew up in Lawrence, Kansas where his parents were professors. He pursued his passion for theater and performing arts during his high school years and continued to explore it at the University of Kansas, majoring in Theatre and Russian. After graduation, he worked in community theater and pursued educational experiences in Europe. He eventually settled in NYC, where he worked in various artistic roles before joining the NYC Conflicts of Interest Board (COIB) in 2001. At COIB, Kipp initially served as a Junior Trainer, developing innovative methods to engage participants during conflict-of-interest training sessions. His theatrical background influenced his approach, making the sessions more relatable and interactive. Despite a brief hiatus due to budget cuts, he returned to the COIB and rose to the position of Director of Education & Engagement, a role he holds to this day. Kipp’s impact on COIB’s educational program has been significant, revitalizing it with creativity and originality. He utilizes multimedia content, including videos and social media, to make complex ethical topics engaging and accessible. His training sessions, attended by a wide range of public servants, are praised for their energy and interactivity. Kipp is known for his willingness to accommodate training requests and his dedication to ensuring everyone has access to quality education on conflicts of interest. His innovative approach has not only raised the bar for ethics training but has also earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and stakeholders across the board.
