D’Shandi is pursuing a master’s degree in Urban Planning at New York University, with a focus on Environmental Planning and City Science. D’Shandi received her bachelor’s degree in Economics from Baruch College, where she focused on Economic Development and Black Studies. Using her skills as an NYC educator coupled with the knowledge gained from Wagner, D’Shandi aspires to collaborate with communities to create emergency management mitigation strategies that are climate change resilient, creative, and sustainable. In her previous role with the Peace Corps, as a community development specialist in Tanzania, D’Shandi conducted field research to evaluate the community’s needs and resources to design and implement corresponding plans for development or sustainability in collaboration with community stakeholders. D’Shandi looks forward to engaging with community partners to ensure that the needs of those most vulnerable are at the forefront of every decision-making process. In her free time, D’Shandi loves to see Broadway musicals and find free activities in the city, such as kayaking and rock climbing. D’Shandi also loves to visit museums, both domestic and international!
