Bio

Emma McCauley is pursuing a Master’s degree in Urban Planning at CUNY Hunter College. She previously earned a B.S. in Marine Vertebrate Biology from Stony Brook University in 2018. Bridging her interest in coastal ecology with her passion for conservation, Emma has worked as an environmental educator and curriculum developer at various NYC non-profit and cultural organizations, including the South Street Seaport Museum, Gowanus Canal Conservancy, and the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy. Her work in these roles highlighted the critical role urban parks and nature-based solutions play in adapting to climate change, prompting her to pursue a career as a resiliency planner. At Hunter College, Emma has broadened her perspective on planning for adaptation, particularly at the intersection of housing, economic development, and green infrastructure planning. Currently, she is a Public Engagement Trainee at Arch Street Communications, where she helps build pathways for local M/WBEs to enter NYC’s growing renewable energy industry. Outside of work, Emma enjoys birding, cooking, solving NYT puzzles, spending time with her dog Maggie, and indulging in reality TV.
