Isabel Jordan is pursuing a Master of Urban Planning at Hunter College. She holds a degree in Environmental Policy and Law from Binghamton University. Her professional experiences in the public realm range widely. From using food scraps to conduct public-facing waste education via the GrowNYC Compost Program to engaging luxury retail stakeholders in placemaking programming at the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District, Isabel enjoys connecting organizations and diverse New Yorkers. Her background in urban agriculture and local food systems aligns with her planning ideals of sustainability, community organizing, and experimental design. Isabel is proud to join a cohort of visionaries dedicated to creating a healthier New York for all. Her research interests encompass transportation alternatives, housing affordability, regional planning, the history of Islamic cities, the role of culture in the design and use of the built environment, and non-Western urbanism.
