Bio
Monali Gandhi is pursuing a master’s degree in City, Community and Regional Planning at Pratt Institute. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Architecture at SMEF’s Brick Group of Institutes in India. Monali has developed an interest in utilizing public spaces to facilitate community interaction, especially as it pertains to disinvested and gentrified communities. Her research focuses on investment in public infrastructure while incorporating community feedback and participation. By working with institutions and community organizations with ties to city government, Monali hopes to understand communities’ needs and directly address them through the government’s public space renewal projects. She wants to integrate her knowledge as an architect with planning principles and serve the community not only by creating technologically equipped spaces but by bridging the gap among communities.
