Bio
Saba Mahmood is pursuing a Master’s degree in Urban and Community Planning at Pratt Institute and is a Fulbright scholar from Pakistan. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) from the National College of Arts, Lahore. As a licensed architect, Saba’s roles have varied from architectural, interior designer, project manager, construction supervisor, and firm representative. She has designed and managed projects ranging from healthcare, diplomatic, hospitality, and residential in Pakistan. At Pratt, her selected coursework focuses on bottom-up planning, prioritizing community needs, and including them as equal stakeholders in decision-making processes. Saba is passionate about working on the social and climate resilience of vulnerable communities through developing and preparing urban systems that effectively maintain and efficiently respond to providing the necessary service delivery and functions when within crisis. She is eager to help build resilient communities in New York City by participating in community board projects focused on community engagement, urban sustainability, and disaster planning. Beyond her desire to build community resilience, her interests lie in motion sketching and furniture making.
