Zev Reisman is pursuing a Master’s degree in Urban Planning at CUNY Hunter College. He holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from New York University, where he developed a keen interest in the relationship between the built environment and residents’ health. After earning an Advanced Certificate in Community Leadership from the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies, Zev spent over three years with the New York State Nurses Association, supporting union members throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Zev dedicates his efforts at Brooklyn International High School, assisting teachers with classroom management and providing one-on-one support to English Language Learners. Informed by his experiences with working-class and immigrant populations, Zev is passionate about participatory community planning that engages and empowers working people who are essential to the cities they live in. He aims to support efforts that address the legacy of infrastructure negatively impacting vulnerable communities’ health and to ensure these communities have access to green, resilient infrastructure in the face of climate change.
